Vikings and GAS share the points in even contest In the last game before the Christmas/new year break the Vikings were up against the unbeaten German All Stars (GAS). In fact the Vikings were one of only two teams to take points from GAS so far this season. The coaches picked the more defensive 4-1-4-1 formation with Breitner as the Viking Makelele! <read match report here>
Vikings return from Phuket with silverware
With the current unrest in Thailand coaches Mofok and Chris had to make some tough decisions together with the team last week… No flights available and the only alternative were for us to do the awful road trip down to Phuket (862 km one way!). Some of the players (Chris, Breitner, Richard and Hallas) left Bangkok already Thursday evening and used not less than 6 modes of transportation to reach the island 21 hours later.. That is what I call commitment! Motorbike, BTS, minibus to Hua Hin, train to Surat Thani, public bus half way to Phuket (standing up) before giving up and reaching Phuket by taxi mid-day on Friday.<read full report here>

Brave Vikngs conquer iPlay and celebrate in style
After a one week break the Vikings were back on the Pattana field to face the league leader’s iPlay that had so far not lost a point. The usual 4-4-2 formation was dropped in favor of a more defensive 4-5-1 formation. From the very beginning Vikings tried to control the game and only after a couple of minutes Ruj was brought down in the penalty area by the iPlay keeper. <read full report here>
Vikings only manage a draw against BC Masters Big pitch, no subs, and 10 players out of action. Not really a recipe for success. Not too surprising then that the Vikings were held to a draw on Saturday. The game was in all honesty a horrible one and especially the Vikings were struggling to get any play going and were actually lucky to get away with a draw. Lars scored the goal for the Vikings with a nice a free kick and was also voted man of the match. <Read match report here>
Vikings - BC Masters Preview Vikings are facing BC Masters on Saturday looking to capitalize on the momentum from the much improved performance last weekend. The Vikings are missing a host of players for the game though, with no less than 10 players unable to participate. The team also continues to struggle in the goalkeeping department and this time new-boy Jörgen will try his luck between the posts. Also Magnus Bruun will make his debut for the Vikings and Lindy will play his first league game for the season. When asked about the starting eleven, Assistant Coach Chris was reluctant to give up too much information, but hinted that Tim Tuna could be given his first start of the season and that hattrick-hero Jannik might be reverted back to defence.
The game is at 3.00 pm and the following players will meet 2.15 pm at Expressway Police Station Football Pitch: Mofok, Chris, Breitner, Udom, Martin V, Lars, Jannik, Ruj, Stein, Tim, Magnus, Lindy, Jörgen
First win of the season as Vikings beat BSL 4-3 In the third game of the season Vikings faced the BSL Youth. This was a special game since Vikings have given BSL some heavy defeats in the last couple of seasons but with a strong start to the season and some impressive pre-season wins the BSL was out for revenge. Also this was Bjerner’s last game for the Vikings and the only acceptable going away present would be a win – so the stakes were high as kick off approached.<read match report here>

Sorry Vikings crushed by Pickeld Liver The only friendly before the season premiere against the Germans was played on Saturday, when the Vikings took on Pickled Liver at Patana. In what turned out to be an awful performance, the Pickled Liver were the far superior team and were deserved winnners, 3-0. The only Viking players that stood up and deserve a bit of praise were Bretiner and Travis. The rest of the Viking players need to really step up their game if the team is going to stand any chance of promotion this season. Caoches Mofok and Chris were reluctant to answer any questions after the game but promised there will be changes to the lineup. With the goalie issue yet not solved, the Vikngs are looking at a tough start of the season.
Vikings lose goalie Michael Madsen to injury Vikings were hit a real blow right before the start of the season when goalkeeper Michael Madsen declared he is forced to quit football due to injury. Michael has had four operations on right knee already and feels now he has no choice but to stop playing. Coaches Mofok and Chris got the news last week and are now desperate to find a new keeper before the start of the season.
Scandinavian Vikings Season Awards 07/08
Most Valuable Player - Martin V
Most points (goals+assists) of all Viking players. Also the player that the team has missed the most when he hasn't played.
Most Improved Player – Coach Mofok
7 goals in last two months against tough teams like
as Patana and BSL Youths. What more is there to say?
Rookie of the Year - Jannik
Versatile player who can play both in midfield and defence. Started out a bit slow but grew during the season to become a a really important asset to the team as a rock-solid full back.
Mistake of the Year - Stein/Breitner The dynamic duo!Their incredible own goal against John Smith’s got pretty much all the votes. Well deserved!
Achievement of the Year - Udom
For his ability to fly! His 1.5 meter leaping header against Anatolia was the undisputed goal of the season and got us an important win.
Quote of the Year – Jannik
"I could have started to play in Vikings years ago,
but I thought it was only assholes and loosers in
Vikings..." - Jannik to Coach Mofok after the Tuna
Game in Nov-07. Have you changed your mind?
Coaches MVP – Travis
A great guy that makes us all laugh. He shows up at every practice, attends all games, forces his girlfriend to film each game and he is actually
considering staying an extra year in Thailand only to
play for the club. That’s commitment! And above all he
wrote a rap-song for the team.

Vikings pick up third consecutive win to close gap on top teams
It was a hard hit Viking team facing an unbeaten Anatolia side on Saturday. With Travis and Richard out to injuries and top scorer Claus and head coach Mofok away on scouting trips, Vikings only had 12 players to pick a team from. This forced assistant coach Chris to make some changes to the team. Jannik was turned into left back, Breitner moved into the middle of defence to man mark league top scorer Khun Piyapong and "The Real Deal" was handed his first start of the season up front. Vikings could also present a new signing in danish Sören "Lerby" Kristensen. <read full match report here>
Vikings leave it late in narrow win Claus was the last-gasp hero with a goal five minutes from time in Viking's crucial 2-1 win over John Smiths…Viking’s with an offensive line-up leaving coach Mofok on the bench had a terrible start to the game. It seems like we lacked confidence and commitment for the first twenty minutes or so. All quiet and couldn’t get our game going. <read full report here>

All evens against Thai Tunas Mahatchai, Thailand- Following up on a crushing defeat of the Japanese on Sunday afternoon, the hungry and thirsty Vikings, in hopes of concurring Asia, redeployed and moved south to engage in battle with the Kingdom of Siam. Sunset brought the Vikings to the western outskirts of Bangkok to the home of the Thai Union Tuna Tigers (TUTT). A hostile SRO crowd, giant mossies, and the TUTT greeted the Mighty Vikings and the "Captain of the Day" Tim "Tuna-Real Deal". Regular Captains Mofok and Chris strategized that only Captain Tuna would be able to crack the TUTT defensive force. <Read full match report here>
First win of the Season!!! - Nov. 2007Finally the Vikings got to feel the sweet taste of victory! You could feel it in the air already well before kick off. The Vikings were sick and tired of losing and dropping points late in games, and the Japanese were the once who were gonna have to pay! That accompanied by a really strong squad and the Vikings started off strong, controlling the game from the first kick. After only 5 minutes the Vikings were ahead after “Comeback Kid” Claus received the ball, went passed a Japanese defender, and set Bjerner up for an easy tap in...<Read full match report here>
A New Season is about to start - Sep. 2007
The 2006/2007 season ended on a very positive note. The Vikings team played some nice soccer and clinched 8th place. And in the prestigious Tesco Lotus Masters Tournament Vikings took Silver by beating last year champions BCCT and had a great game against The Allstar team that among others, fielded Ian Rush, John Barnes, and Viv Anderson(see photo section). What a great season for Scandinavian Vikings. And a big THANK YOU to the now retired coaching Team, Keld and Anders. New Coaching Partners for the 2007/2008 season are the Swedish Smorgasboys, Johan and Chris, who already made their marks by offloading non-performing players, and been recruiting new fresh legs. Pre-season warm-up against the Singaporean Vikings ended with a 2-1 win but a big loss in the beer-drinking contest (link). Furthermore, have the coaches through long negotiations managed to secure the Vikings a spot in the very prominent 2nd division. Well Done, guys! Again we have rumors floating around before the new season, "with the loss of topscorer, Anders, a certain Ian Rush have shown interest in being the new front for the Vikings." Yes, it is a GREAT SEASON ahead of the VIKINGS

Vikings beat the French (encore)... - Mar 2007
The Vikings put up a strong and solid performance against the French. In a
well-played first half the Vikings was a goal down after 20 or so minutes.
The French top scorer David scored on a penalty after been brought down by
Terry. The Vikings felt a bit unlucky to be a goal down but we should
probably be happy that Terry did not pick up his second yellow card for that
challenge. 5 minutes the born again striker Anders copied Ryan Giggs goal
against Lille and.... <Read full report here>
Sponsor derby: Vikings - Pickled Liver - Mar 2007
Revenge was in the air on a hot Saturday at Pattana even though it didn’t look so before the game. With Terry and Neil playing in the Bangkok 7’s tournament and C1, C2 and Sweeper all doubtful with injuries the squad was stretched to the limit. For the same reason the old super star Johan Lagerkrantz was flown in from Sweden to play what later proved to be a memorable come-back game. <Read full report here>
Vikings are hot again... - Mar 2007
Vikings are back on the winning track! After two very disappointing games
against the Japanese and British Club, we got three well-needed points against
Sunbelt. The match against Sunbelt didn't start out very well though. After
some misunderstandings in our defense, Sunbelts nr 10 could take advantage
of the situation and put it in the top corner. No chance for our excellent playing
keeper Michael. <Read full report here>

First win in 2007... - Jan 2007
For the first time in Vikings history several players showed up more than 3 hours before kick-off as C1 had problems informing the right kick-off time. But the 3 hours warm up paid off and there was never really any doubt about who would win the game. With Chris and Breitner in the goal and a well playing defence Irish Xchange never managed to threaten Vikings who took a 4 – 0 victory this Sunday afternoon. First half the Irish Xchange had a few chances but with a nice shot from Udon and a classic C2 goal (header on a cornerkick) it was 2-0 at halftime. Second half Chris made 2 goals and took away the last hope for the Irish Xchange. Terry was coaching the team from the sideline as he was not able to play due to 2 yellow cards in the last game. Man of the Match: Jepser Hallas
Back to losing ways... - Dec 2006
Inspired by our recent good form we started out well against the Winking Frog and could have had the lead after only a few minutes minutes but Udon put the ball wide clean through with the goalie. That didn’t put us down and we continued to produce chances with Breitner coming closest with a header of a corner which the Frog keeper somehow kept out. We would eventually get the goal we deserved... <Read full report here>
Phuket-7s Report - Dec. 2006
The Viking players arrived in Phuket around 10.30 p.m. on Friday night
and as the serious sportsmen we are, we decided to have a quite one and
just went out for some food before hitting the sack. Our first game the following morning was already at 09.21 so we wanted to have a good night sleep.
CEO was going take the bus Saturday morning from Krabi and join us later
on, but after realizing he would miss all of our games he had to. <Read full report here> AND <ScandAsia report here>
Finally... - Nov 2006
Vikings got the win they've been waiting for!! The fact that the winner came in the last minute made it even sweeter! Things could have been different though as we started out pretty sloppy and let an easy goal in already after 5 minutes when the Viking defense was unable to clear a Sunbelt cross and their striker put, what looked like a miss hit, in the back of the net behind our deputy goal keeper Breitner.. <Read full report here>

The Viking Veterans continue their victory streak this Sunday at Patana with a narrow win in the final against Winking Frog. Although Coach Uddman was out with injury and Fisker played in goal for the whole tournament the Viking vets managed to take home the trophy for the fourth time in a row. The day started brightly with The Vikings cruising through the group stages and the semis until the final that turned out to be one of the hardest ever. Winking Frog went ahead 1-0 in the first minute and held the Vikings into extra time before the equalizer fell after a corner kick. In the following penalties all Viking shooters scored and Esa made the vital save to secure the trophy once again. A narrow victory with The Vikings finding the luck just as it was needed.

Casual Cup 2006: Mixed Vikings feelings - May 2006
It was with some doubts the Vikings went in to The Casual Cup in the weekend May 20 th and 21 st. With key players like Arvling, Sweeper and all of the Swedish Breitner gang missing it was very doubtful which kind of performance the team would pull off. Ending up in a tough group with Londoner, The French Frogs, The Winking Frogs, British Club and Sunbelt didn’t do much for the optimism before the tournament. <Read full report here>

Q2: You were voted MVP last year, who do you think will win the award this season? A2:I will do my best to grab it again, but if not, Jannik is looking like a good bet.
